4. Anteaters Have Poor Vision

Given their strong reliance on scent to find food, many believe anteaters have poor vision. Though their sense of smell is their main weapon for locating prey, anteaters really have really good vision that helps them in their daily life. Though somewhat small, their eyes can detect motion and clearly differentiate forms. Their great sense of smell and hearing as well as this vision prepare them for survival in their natural environments. Their eyes are suited to operate in both bright and dark light circumstances, hence they employ their visual talents especially well during twilight hours when they are most active. Their visual acuity guides them across challenging terrain, away from predators, and toward possible food sources.
